“In Full Color” premiered with a run on March 26, 28 and 29, 2015 at Art House Productions, 136 Magnolia Ave., Jersey City. The Sunday, March 29, show was followed by a Q&A and talkback. A portion of the proceeds from the event was donated to local nonprofit WomenRising.
THE LINEUP
“Walang Títulos” and “7 train, corona/jackson heights” by Jennifer Cendaña Armas
Jennifer is an interdisciplinary performance artista, writer, and community worker from Queens, New York. Her work centers around telling stories of diaspora.
“HOWLS” by Karen Eilbacher
Karen is an actor and director, credits include: SHE LIKE GIRLS (GLAAD Media Awards), “Parallels” (LA Web Fest, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama), Curfew (Academy Award, Short Film [Live Action]). Company member: TE’A, Poetic Theater Productions, The Bats, MTWorks, The WKSHP and Playwrights Gallery. BFA Honors: NYU Tisch and University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
“Apple Pie and Baklava” by Shirin Terhune Vazir
Shirin holds a BFA in Graphic Design from RISD. Currently Senior Designer at Symrise, she’s worked for MSNBC, W Magazine, NJY Camps and Starwood Hotels. Active in Jersey City’s design community, she won JC’s Bike Rack Design and Reusable Bag Design contests. She enjoys helping feral felines, traveling exotic lands, yoga and biking the JC waterfront.
“A Search for My Spirit” by Nerissa Tutiven
Nerissa graduated from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a BFA in Illustration. She spent her childhood dabbling in theater and fine arts. Currently she is an occupational artist. She is co-founder of Girlometry, a collective which creates artwork for young girls. and Creative Director of Always Love.
“My Puerto Rican Mother” by Yvonne Hernandez
Yvonne is an actress, comedian and writer of a one-woman show filled with heartwarming characters. She’s performed at or in The Naumburg Bandshell, The Vagina Monologues, The Loew’s Theater, The New York New Works Theater, The Nuyorican Cafe, Newark Symphony Hall, “A Legend of Communipaw,” The New York Comedy Club, The Comic Strip and The Eastville Comedy Club.
“My Curly Hair” by Alicia Wright; performed by Samille Ganges
Alicia is a founding member of Art House Productions’ Board of Trustees and first got involved acting in both “The Heist Project” and “Camino Real.” In San Diego, Alicia worked with the Faultline Players, Starlight Musical Theater and Malashock Dance. Alicia has a BS in English, Writing Emphasis, from Cal State University at Northridge.
Samille is a recent graduate from New Jersey City University with a B.A. in Musical Theatre. Recent credits include “The Old Maid and the Thief” (NJCU OPERA), “Madame Infamy” (NYMF), her original show “ADHD,” and “Little Shop of Horrors” (Attic Ensemble). Samille thanks Summer for thinking of her, Desmond, family and God.
“The Furthest Walk” and “Literary Masturbation on Devolution or Homework” by wendelin
wendelin immigrated Jersey City from the Dominican Republic before she was two years old. Her love of the word was nurtured with frequent trips to the local library as a child and music has been a constant in her life. She is being honored this year by the Hudson County Department of Cultural Affairs.
“The Exception” by Summer Dawn
Summer (Director) got her start directing AHP’s first Emerging Artists in 2007 and is glad to be presenting here again! She’s proud to have brought together this diverse group of talented women and thanks her wonderful cast and crew for their hard work. She is the Co-Founder/Director of 68 Productions. She also sang the show’s opening number, “It’s a Man’s World.”
“Laugh About it Now” by Amanda Levie
Amanda is the founder of No Peeking LLC, a blind live arts company. She graduated from Kean University with a BA in Theater. She is so thrilled about the diversity of this project! Amanda would like to thank Summer for such a unique opportunity and her family and friends for their support.
“Hardcore Latina Punk Birth Fragments” by Dr. Grisel Y. Acosta; performed by Nicole Miranda
Grisel, a native Chicagoan, is a writer/assistant professor at Bronx Community College—CUNY. Publications include Nineteen Sixty Nine: An Ethnic Studies Journal, MiPoesias, Pembroke Magazine, Check the Rhyme, The Routledge Companion to Latino/a Literature, African American Women’s Language, Diálogo, Salon, and Basta!: 100 Latinas Write on Violence Against Women. She is married to poet/playwright Vincent Toro.
Nicole’s recent credits: Memory “A One Woman Show of Romance” Newark Symphony Hall, Vanessa (Lead) “Shape Shifter” (Staged Reading) No Peeking Theatre, & Cleo (Lead) “Emma and the Lost Unicorn” Villagers Theatre. Nicole trains and performs in the New York Upright Citizens Brigade Improvisation School and Theatre. In 2015, Nicole is looking forward to expanding her film and television career!
“The Interview” by Inés del Castillo
Inés is a bilingual actress. She currently plays the role of María Teresa in “In The Time of the Butterflies” at the Spanish Repertory in NYC. Last fall she performed in Theater Mitu’s Juárez at the Rattlestick in NYC and at the LATC in LA. Thank you!
THE CREW
Pat Christodulidis (Set and Prop Designer) has designed costumes for “Little Black Dots” and “Commit” and props for “The Wizard of Oz Jr.,” (May 2015) “Fame Jr.,” and “Handy Dan D.” She is also a cinematic art director and costume designer. She thanks Summer for the amazing opportunity to work on “In Full Color” with such a talented cast.
Christine Goodman (Producer) is thrilled to be working with 68 Productions and this team of talented women to bring “In Full Color” to life. She is the Founder/Executive Director of Art House Productions. Recent credits: “Commit” (producer), “Something to Remember Me By” (writer, producer), “Murder on Ice” (writer, producer, costume design); “Constant Never” (writer, director, costume design); “Heavy Craft/Soft Landing” (director, development team). Training: New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts; Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London).
Daniel Guiducci (Photographer) is a Jersey City native who loves exploring the depths of the urban jungle armed with nothing but his curiosity and trusty camera. His work was recently featured in “Gentrification” at 313 Gallery. You may also know him as DJ Dan Joseph.
Susi López (Makeup Artist) will proudly tell you that growing up in a Hispanic household provides its own unique set of challenges and joys. Her experiences mirror some of the stories being shared today and she is glad to be a part of this production.
Shimeon Nandlal (Technical Director) has recently worked on “Fame Jr.” (Stage Manager), “So What If I Loved You” (Sound Design), “The Music Man Jr.” (Production Assistant), and “Into the Woods” (Assistant Lighting Designer). He thanks Art House Productions for bringing his passion back, his mom for always being there and God for obvious reasons.
Ruani Ribe (Graphic Design) is a visual artist and Jersey City native. A bi-racial and multi-ethnic woman, identity politics have always had a formative influence on her experience and sense of self. Ruani uses mixed media to explore these themes and challenge (mis)conceptions of race, class, sexuality, gender, beauty and their intersections.
