Alumna of the Moment: Kendra Augustin

This month In Full Color is making its NYC theatrical debut with "Death in the Family" by Kendra Augustin, whom IFC fans may recognize from our standup series That One Comedy Night!

Join us as we chat with Kendra about her latest projects on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 6 pm EST on IG Live @infullcolorus_

In the meantime, learn more about Kendra and this exciting new play below!

What projects are you working on now?

One digital show left with my sketch team, Scrunchie -- and you can see our past Scrunchie sketches on the boogiemanja YouTube channel. Other than that I'm just working on supporting Death in the Family! Oh and I'm working with the Bechdel Group to develop my first full-length play, Sisterhood in the Time of the Apocalypse, into something beyond a first draft!

What impact would you like to have on others?

I would love to do what IFC does and create work (film, tv shows, web series, plays) that gets people paid. Especially POC and WOC.

How has In Full Color impacted you?

I have never had a full length play produced! So you're giving me that! And the feedback and the table reads over the past year and a half have gotten my work to a better shape. Oh, and that one time I got paid to do a comedy show where I used my time to talk about my kidney stone. Summer's belief in women gets us out of our comfort zones!

“Death in the Family” by Kendra Augustin runs Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 28 to 30 at 7:30 p.m., with a 3 p.m. matinee (including a post-show artist talkback!) on Oct. 30, at Dixon Place, 161A Chrystie St., Manhattan, NY. (Between Delancey and Rivington streets, accessible via J/Z train at Bowery, B/D at Grand Street and F at Second Avenue.) Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 at door. Students/seniors $15/$17.
