Casting Call: 2 Male Actors for 'Death in the Family' (10/28-30)

Hello! In Full Color is casting for "Death in the Family," an in-person play coming to Dixon Place, NYC, from Oct. 28 to 30. (Rehearsal period begins ASAP, most sessions are expected to be weekday evenings or weekend days). This is a non-union, paid gig.




We are seeking 2 male-identified/presenting actors. All will be double/triple cast to play the following roles:


CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Actors' will play an age range of preteen to late 20s, 30s


JONAH/JEREMIAH/MAN - 12, Micah’s little brother, an outsider / 18, Tabitha's younger brother / a stranger who isn't one at all

MICAH/ISAAC - 20s, a bit downcast, but ambitious / A 30 something man who is guilty


BIPOC, LGBTQ/queer and Disabled folx are encouraged to apply. Please note the play includes some graphic content and physical violence. A fight coordinator will be engaged to work with all actors.


HOW TO SUBMIT


1. Download audition cuts here:

2. Record a self-tape. Actors can read for -either- Jonah OR Micah. Please do not submit tapes for more than one character. We recommend working with a reader off-camera.

3. Submit your tape here.

4. Selected actors will be contacted for a Zoom call back with our director.


ABOUT THE PLAY


"Death in the Family" by Kendra Augustin is a dark collection of five short plays that show families dealing with loss and trauma, peppered with moments of absolute whimsy. Director Benjamin Abraham. Executive Producer Summer Dawn. Co-Presented by Dixon Place and In Full Color.

Rehearsals and performances will be held in-person, indoors. We are adhering to all NYC and federal COVID-19 precautions. All participants including cast, crew and audience members must be fully vaccinated.
