Poets & pot-shots: TIFC double header drives Jersey City wild

Thinking In Full Color is quickly making a name for itself as an arts company with lots to offer. Jersey City got a double helping of what we've got cooking yesterday with a double-header -- poetry in the morning, stand-up in the evening!

Steph Dinsae and Rukiya Bluford kicked things off with their riveting reprises of their In Full Color poems for a literary festival honoring Toni Morrison at New Jersey City University. Under the watchful eyes of the Nobel Prize winner, both women moved a crowd of nearly 200 students, faculty and community members.

Steph performed "Ode to the Medusa in Me" and Rukiya performed "Three things I learned before becoming a woman." Click the links to see their original In Full Color performances.

Then, we finished the night off with our most well-attended comedy show so far! Locals packed P.S. Wine Bar for That One (Effed Up) Night, the fourth installment of our series. At the standing-room-only show, we saw Kortlynn Jenae and IFC's Daniela Rincon make their hilarious comedic debuts and riotous performances from Lorenda Mable and JC's own Kristina Acevedo.

Stay tuned for photos and videos from That One (Effed Up) Night. If you are a funny femme of color and are interested in participating, contact us at thinkinginfullcolor@gmail.com.
